Since the discourse has been discoursing, I wanted to say that I'm not a school abolitionist. I'll take any reading suggestions on the subject but basically I don't think schools are equivalent to prisons or cops

Basically every metric shows a formal education is good for people *if* done *well*. But the prison system demonstrably makes outcomes worse. It is good imo that everyone knows "the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell", even if most people won't "use" that information

We are talking about projects that have rebuilt from the bottom up. The curriculum is set through assembly and focused around the community's history and culture. The relationship between teacher and student aims to be collaborative and not punitive. But it's still school
