    1. I got into an argument once over whether it is appropriate to compare many of the problems the US working class to those in the global south. I think it is very useful to do so in certain circumstances, especially when things like Jackson Mississippi keep happening

    Poverty in the global south is not some intangible, intrinsic thing about being brown. It's specific chronic issues. A lack of clean water. A lack of an education. A lack of social services. Obvious on average Americans are wealthier but people are not averages

      We need to stop letting the US believe it has some kind of moral high ground over the rest of the world when it hasn't solved its own problems, 95% of which are exactly the same as the problems it points out elsewhere
