I did end up finishing The Boys and I thought it was really good. Definitely more thoughtful than Invincible in a lot of ways. In fact, just all around better than Invincible, really. Better characters, way better and more nuanced social commentary

In the background of one of the scenes, there's a "Vote for Huey P Newton" poster, next to a poster of Barack Obama. I think that's the one thing that really bugged me. I mean the dude never even ran for office and the set designers had to have known that and why

I guess someone went "It'd make sense if this radical Black character liked Huey P Newton", and then corporate went "No that's endorsing terrorism," so they softened it. Which is interesting because it'd mean the show is not immune from the corporate behavior it criticizes (duh)
