I think I fundamentally, but respectfully, disagree with some of the anarchists I'm seeing making a big show about bringing Russian imperialism up now because as anarchists we're supposed to be against all wars and all states equally
-
This is certainly true on paper and not something I disagree with. Russia is just a less successful capitalist imperialist rival to the US. It's not a gateway to socialism. We shouldn't be supporting Russia to pit it against the US. I don't dispute that
-
Thing is, we're not just anarchists. We're anarchists living in the United States, the largest military and economic empire known to man? As American anarchists, opposing US expansionism is something that we can more easily do than other peoples by proximity
-
Our state department is literally risking nuclear war just to put one of its imperial rivals in its place. That's what NATO is. What is the point of going "Well Russia is also bad!!" when this is pointed out? Or worse, being more mad at Russian expansionism than NATO?
-
It's not campism to identify where our energy is best spent. Nor is it campism to focus on our shit, America, and trust comrades in Ukraine and Russia to focus on Russia better than we can
-
I'll own up to the fact that this isn't orthodox anarchist thinking. This is revolutionary intercommunalism, mostly, in focusing on communities that oppose US empire as a priority. But I think this is more balanced
-
I think I said the same thing during the Cuba protests. Where I saw some anarchists on here being like "Well I oppose Cuba AND America!!" Sure, but like right now? When our country is actively trying to fuck with it? Maybe this line of thought can wait?
