People's bodies aren't "coded" - that's just weird. People don't have agency in what body they're born with or what they look like to society. That's just body shaming as the tweet points out. "Coding" is an idea that only applies to fiction

When left media analysis criticizes, like, 4,000 year old dragon lolis or whatever, people will counter "well there are real women who exist and who are short. You're just shaming them." Which is the best rebuttal because it almost sounds woke if you don't think about it

Coding means giving a character certain features in service of communication. Short, flat women aren't "child coded" but I can make a FICTIONAL character 5'1" and an A cup to convey to an audience that she is child-like. That decision is what coding is, not the body type alone

And then you can question "well why are you using these specific traits to communicate this idea? Where does that assumption come from?" Yes, good, exactly! That's what media analysis is! It's a very fun hobby for me
