So one of the things I love, personally, is when I write about a show and all future criticisms of people who don't like the show are addressed by things I wrote. So they start right off the bat with the assertion that if you don't like the anime you haven't watched it.
  1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
I've probably watched Shield Hero more than the average Shield Hero "fan". Because Shield Hero is actually really boring 80% of the time. It's only interesting when it's doing it's weird pro-slavery anti-feminism shit. It has no rewatch value
    1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
But I've watched this show to the end twice, and multiple episodes 3-4 times. So no it's just bad. It does bad things
      1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
"Shield Hero is no worse than a lot of the anime that came out in the 90s early 00s" GOD SO CLOSE ALMOST THERE
        1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
What is this assertion that anti-idpol types make that if classic media came out today it would be considered "problematic". They're like "Oh you couldn't make Evangelion today" BUT THEY'RE STILL MAKING EVA MOVIES RIGHT NOW
          1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
NETFLIX DID A REBOOT OF IT AND IT WAS SUCCESSFUL EVA LITERALLY CAME OUT TODAY AND IT WAS FINE IN FACT PEOPLE WERE MAD AT NETFLIX FOR MAKING IT LESS INCLUSIVE THAN IT ORIGINALLY WAS

The main character is falsely accused of rape, he gets a child slave, and he grooms her. That's the show. I don't.... They don't even argue against this
                1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
So first interesting point of the video: They say in the show Naofumi is bullied for no reason. And now THE WESTERN MEDIA bullies Shield Hero for no reason. It's actually: Naofumi's victim complex obscures his shitty behavior and his fans inherent this victim complex
                  1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
So they say: In Western shows the protagonist never has to work for anything. Unliked BASED and EPIC Japan where the heroes have to struggle. First of all this is ahistorical, because the American dream has been a part of US storytelling since forever
                    1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
Also they use Steven Universe as an example of this, but in SU Steven has to work for 5 seasons to build up his powers and he struggles with his heritage. ALSO, Naofumi is literally the strongest character because of the shield
                      1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
I'm actually flattered that my 250-follower ass is considered part of the media conspiracy to destroy Shield Hero. Fuckin A we did it boys
                        1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
Le false rape accusation discourse is here Fuckin Shield Hero fans man what are you doing. You say you're mad at the "media" for calling you sexist but then repeat sexist narratives about false rape accusations to defend... The Rising of the Shield Hero of all things?
                          1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
"Men get sexually assaulted too" Oki and the only movement that seeks to break down the systems that make this acceptable is feminism. The thing you are opposed to, again, to defend fucking Shield Hero of all things.

Okay so we finally get to the line that makes them mad. Basically the Shield Hero producer says the controversy around Shield Hero didn't show up in Japanese markets, so they want to "address issues" to make a "better product next time"
                                1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
First of all referring to SH as a product is fuckin perfect. Love it. More of that please. Second this is a non-answer. It's not actually committed to responding to feedback.

Third: this isn't censorship, it's how capitalism works. They want an international market so they make a product they think will sell in international markets. Done. If you don't like it, you should maybe oppose capitalism👀
                                    1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
Fourth: There leftists and feminists in Japan. Even if Shield Hero specifically slipped under the radar in Japan that doesn't mean they aren't people who think anime could be better with female issues in Japan
                                      1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
Five: we both live in the West. So we're both equally entitled to analyze shows from a Western perspective. Like it is absolutely valid to analyze a show through the lens of #MeToo if it contributes to that discourse in some way, which Shield Hero fucking did

I am once again reminding weebs that pedophilia is not normal in Japan

No seriously this is an important point. When someone's like "this anime is kind of pedophilic" and a weeb responds "no you're just confused by Japanese culture" that's racist. It's pedophilia in Japan too
                                                  1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
I've actually read this article, and it's really interesting to me because I thought it was rather apologetic of Shield Hero. It acknowledges there was controversy but dismisses it as "Westerners not understanding anime" and claims the show addresses everything.
                                                    1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
But to these two knuckleheads, even the mild suggestion that some people didn't like Shield Hero because of its politics is enough to send them into a 20-minute rage. YOU MUST BOW BEFORE THE ALTER OF NAOFUMI OR ELSE

The real thing that they're sensitive about is that they liked a bad and shitty anime called Shield Hero and they think people attacking it is attacking them. I'm only attacking them now because they're saying and doing stupid things and it's very funny.
                                                          1. …in reply to @__MoBlack
If they bothered to read "You just incel so hard you justify slavery" you'll note one of the first things I do is separate attacking Shield Hero from attacking its fans. But it's not enough they're too sensitive and insecure for that conversation.
