                Are the "frontline" workers who spent months fighting for PPE and hazard pay, some of whom lost their jobs doing so, are they "tired" of the pandemic? Are the elderly or disabled people who have been forced to stay inside for months "tired" of social distancing?

              I bring this up because I see liberals and liberal news outlets arguing what amounts to: "Individuals don't care enough about each other to wear masks. The state has to threaten people to follow the rules and since we won't there's nothing we can do."

            To them, coronavirus is more proof that human nature is incompatible with societies based on mutual aid. Besides being wrong this also ignores the fact that "pandemic fatigue" didn't come out of nowhere.

          Capitalists pay outlets like Fox News to go on every night and talk about how "the cure can't be worse than the disease" and how "people are sick of being at home with their families" and "99.9999% of cases are non-lethal anyway so why be afraid".

        Remember all those anti-lockdown protests? The protests which the president supported? Well, the same capitalists behind the Tea Party movement over a decade ago funded these too.       So no, cases aren't up because "ordinary people are tired of being inside" or "people are too selfish to wear masks". Cases are up because the bourgeoisie is literally paying people to tell you that we ought to reopen by now. That everything is fine. That it's not that deadly

    Cases are up because our political system is holding millions hostage. Instead of paying to keep people safe, it makes people choose between the risk of spreading the virus and starvation on the street. Then it turns around and goes "Don't blame me! The people want to reopen 🙂"
